Wine Guardian unit not cooling, running constantly, icing up or showing an error? Tell us the model and what it is doing, and Jim Hopper, our wine cooling specialist, replies with the next step: a check you can do yourself, the exact replacement part, or a replacement quote if the unit has reached the end of its life. Warranty claims are opened with Wine Guardian on your behalf, so you deal with one contact.
What to have ready
- Model number. On the label inside the unit or on your invoice: D025, TTW02B Sentinel, DS050 and so on.
- Serial number and age. Warranty and parts availability depend on both.
- What you observe. Temperature in the cellar, whether the unit runs, any code on the controller, ice, water, noise.
- Photos or a short video. Of the controller display, the coil and the installation; they cut the back-and-forth.
Common problems and what they usually mean
- Not cooling or not holding temperature. Most often airflow, a warm condenser space or a sensor issue before it is refrigerant. Start with why a cellar stops holding temperature.
- Running constantly. Undersized unit, heat load higher than planned, or glass and insulation letting heat in. See is constant running normal or a fault.
- Freezing up or ice on the coil. Restricted airflow, a dirty coil or a failing sensor. See causes and safe fixes for icing.
- Error code on the controller. The manual for your model lists each code; the Manuals page has every current model.
- Water or condensate. Drain slope, a blocked line or a pump on ceiling and wine-wall systems; often a kit, not a repair.
- Unusual noise. Fan motor, loose panel or vibration transfer; usually a specific part.
How it works
- Send the support form below with the model, serial, age and what is happening; attach photos if you can.
- Get a written reply from Jim Hopper: a check to run, the part number with a link, or a replacement recommendation with sizing.
- Order the part or the unit here, or, for a warranty case, we open the claim with Wine Guardian and pass on the authorization; repairs are performed by your HVAC professional.
Repair or replace?
A unit under warranty, or one under about eight years old with a single failed component, is usually worth repairing: fans, sensors, controllers and coils are stocked as Wine Guardian parts. A unit past ten years, a compressor failure outside warranty, or a discontinued model whose parts are no longer published is usually a replacement. Discontinued through-the-wall units have named successors: the TTW009 is replaced by the TTW01B Sentinel and the TTW018 by the TTW02B Sentinel. For ducted and split units, the current model of the same capacity is the starting point; send the old model number and we confirm the match and price. Request a replacement quote.
Warranty claims
Wine Guardian's Standard Warranty covers parts for 25 months and labor for 13; the Platinum Warranty extends labor to 25 months and covers the compressor and coils for 61. Claims require prior authorization from Wine Guardian before any repair or return. Send us the model, serial and invoice date and we open the case and forward the authorization to you and your installer. Full terms: Wine Guardian warranty explained.
