SENTINEL SERIES · Pro Ducted Cooling Unit

Wine Guardian DP25 Pro Ducted Unit for Cellars of 250 to 2,000 Cubic Feet

The Wine Guardian DP25 Pro is a self-contained, air-cooled ducted wine cellar cooling unit rated at 3,760 BTU/h at 80°F condenser inlet air on a single 115 V supply, sized by Wine Guardian for spaces of 250 to 2,000 cubic feet.

Wine Guardian describes its Pro ducted systems as ideal for low-temperature air conditioning between 52°F and 70°F, a wider band than wine storage alone, which is why the same cabinet is specified for document, instrument and art storage as well as cellars. The DP25 is the smallest of the four Pro ducted models Wine Guardian publishes, and the whole unit installs outside the wine room and connects through insulated ductwork, so nothing runs inside the space you occupy.

What separates the Pro tier from the standard Sentinel ducted units is protection and serviceability rather than capacity: high- and low-pressure switches, a refrigerant sight glass, an integral compressor crankcase heater, 24-volt electronics for smart-thermostat and building-management integration, and a second published performance table for ordinary room return air. As an authorized Wine Guardian dealer we publish the manufacturer's full data for this model, including the second performance table that most listings leave out, so the specification can be checked before a quote is requested. This guidance is general and intended to help narrow the selection. Final sizing, installation design, electrical requirements, and configuration should be confirmed with Wine Guardian's official documentation and a licensed HVAC professional or qualified contractor.

Where It Sits in the Line
Pro tier of the Sentinel Series

Wine Guardian places all of its ducted systems inside the Sentinel Series, and the Pro units are a tier within it rather than a separate line. The DP25 Pro and the standard D025 carry the same rated capacity and the same recommended volume; the Pro tier adds protection devices, serviceability and a second published rating basis. What the Pro tier adds over the standard Sentinel ducted units is set out feature by feature, which is the comparison most DP25 Pro specifiers work through first.

Fit Check

Is the DP25 Pro Right for Your Wine Cellar or Specialty HVAC System?

The DP25 Pro fits a wine cellar or conditioned store of 250 to 2,000 cubic feet that has a ventilated space outside the room where the cabinet and its condenser air can go, and a 115 V circuit to feed it. The room itself sets the load the unit has to meet, and where a vapor barrier belongs in a cellar wall and which materials hold it is decided while the framing is still open rather than after a model is chosen.

✓ Ideal For

  • Residential and light-commercial wine rooms of roughly 250 to 2,000 cubic feet
  • Cellars where the unit can sit in a utility room, closet or adjacent space and connect by ductwork
  • Specialty storage duty such as documents, instruments, cigars and artwork, which Wine Guardian rates on its own 80°F and 50% RH table
  • Projects that want pressure switches, a sight glass and a crankcase heater as standard rather than a bare cooling unit
  • Buildings where the cellar should join a smart thermostat or a building management system

✕ Consider Another Model If

  • You want a plug-in unit that mounts in the cellar wall with no ductwork, which is what the through-the-wall line is for
  • The space is larger than about 2,000 cubic feet, where the DP50 Pro is the next step
  • The condenser would have to live in a space that regularly runs hotter than 95°F
  • There is no practical way to vent condenser heat, in which case the water-cooled DP25WC is the configuration to price
  • The room is wine storage only and the Pro protection package is not needed, since the standard D025 carries the same rated capacity
Key Features

DP25 Pro Ducted Key Features

The DP25 Pro ducted unit combines a standard self-contained ducted cooling platform with the Pro protection and control package: pressure switches, a refrigerant sight glass, a crankcase heater and 24-volt electronics.

Feature What it means for your cellar
Self-contained ducted design Evaporator, fans, compressor, condenser and controls sit in one cabinet outside the cellar, so the wine room stays quiet and every inch of it stays available for storage.
Two published rating bases Wine Guardian rates the DP25 Pro both for wine-cellar return air at 57°F and 55% RH and for ordinary room return air at 80°F and 50% RH, so the same unit is documented for wine storage and for specialty duty such as document, instrument and art storage.
High- and low-pressure switches Wine Guardian fits these to stop the Pro Series from continuing to cycle on and off if the system is undercharged, overcharged or leaking, which turns a slow refrigerant loss into a stopped unit rather than a warm cellar.
Refrigerant sight glass The Pro Series is the only Wine Guardian line with a sight glass showing the volume of refrigerant in the unit, so a technician can read the charge without gauges on the first visit.
Integral compressor crankcase heater Wine Guardian fits the ducted Pro systems with a crankcase heater and controls to withstand cold temperatures below 40°F, which matters when the unit sits in an unheated utility space.
24-volt electronics, Wi-Fi compatible Wine Guardian uses 24-volt electronics on the Pro Series for integration with a smart thermostat or a building management system, so the cellar can be monitored from the same place as the rest of the building.
Multiple evaporator outlet locations The ducted Pro cabinet offers more than one evaporator outlet position, which gives a retrofit more freedom in routing the supply duct around existing framing.
Coated coils and all-aluminum chassis Wine Guardian builds the Sentinel Series from UL-rated composite material on an all-aluminum chassis with coated coils, for durability in a damp mechanical space.
Composite multi-panel access Captive quarter-turn fasteners on the panels let a technician open the unit for service on site instead of returning it to the factory.
Low ambient protection, standard Protects the system from cold temperatures below 40°F, listed by Wine Guardian as a standard feature on the DP25.

Optional on this model: Wine Guardian lists electric heat, a water-cooled configuration, remote control and monitoring, duct kits, humidification and extended warranties as the options for the Pro ducted line.

How Quiet Is It

How Quiet Is the DP25 Pro Unit?

Placement Does the Work, Not a Decibel Number

Wine Guardian publishes no decibel rating for any of its ducted units, so the honest answer is about placement rather than a number: the DP25 Pro installs outside the wine room and connects through insulated ductwork, so the compressor and both fans are never in the space you occupy.

  • The cabinet sits in a utility room, closet or adjacent space, away from the cellar.
  • Flexible ductwork absorbs air noise, and sound drops further at every turn in a duct run.
  • Wine Guardian's general guidance is that flexible ductwork should run no more than 25 feet; longer runs use rigid duct and a booster fan.
  • Any dealer or comparison chart quoting a decibel figure for a Wine Guardian ducted unit is not quoting the manufacturer.

On the electrical rows: minimum circuit ampacity, maximum overcurrent protection and electric-heat wattage are printed on Wine Guardian's specifications sheet in a combined cell that does not transcribe reliably, so this page does not reproduce them. Size the circuit from the Wine Guardian specifications sheet, with a licensed electrician.

On the 110°F and 120°F rows: those are performance figures under an excursion, not an operating envelope. Wine Guardian's installation manual caps the safe condenser inlet air range at 45°F to 95°F.

Compare Across the Line

How the DP25 Pro Compares to the D025 and DP50

The DP25 Pro and the D025 are the same cooling platform in two feature tiers: identical rated capacity and identical recommended volume, with the Pro adding protection devices and a second published rating basis. The DP50 Pro is the genuine capacity step up.

Best for / not ideal for: choose the DP25 Pro if the space is at or under about 2,000 cubic feet and you want the Pro protection package, smart-thermostat wiring and a documented rating for non-wine duty on a standard 115 V circuit; choose the D025 Sentinel if the room is wine storage only and the Pro package is not needed, since the two units carry the same rated capacity; choose the DP50 Pro if the space runs past about 2,000 cubic feet. The DP25 Pro is not ideal where the condenser would sit in a space that regularly runs hotter than 95°F, or where there is no route for ductwork to a separate room.

Other Pro Ducted Cooling Units

If you are still narrowing the configuration, the full range of Wine Guardian ducted wine cellar cooling units sets the self-contained ducted units against the water-cooled and split variants, and the cooling units for cellars of 1,200 to 2,200 cubic feet group every configuration that suits a room in that band.

Frequently Asked Questions

DP25 Pro Questions and Answers

How long can the duct runs be on a DP25 Pro installation?
Wine Guardian's general guidance is that flexible ductwork should run no more than 25 feet, and it recommends rigid ductwork with a booster fan where a run has to go further. The DP25 needs a minimum 8 in round duct on the evaporator side and a 6 in round duct on the condenser side. A licensed HVAC professional or qualified contractor should confirm the final duct design.
Can the DP25 Pro sit in a hot garage, attic or mechanical room?
Wine Guardian states a safe condenser inlet air range of 45°F to 95°F for its Pro ducted units, so a space that regularly runs hotter than 95°F falls outside that window. The specifications sheet does print capacity figures at 110°F and 120°F, but those rungs describe derated output during an excursion rather than an approved operating envelope. Confirm the siting with a licensed HVAC professional.
Does the DP25 Pro control humidity on its own?
No. The DP25 Pro controls temperature, and an optional Wine Guardian humidifier is required to reach 55% to 65% relative humidity. Wine Guardian's own guidance is that a cooling unit alone cannot add moisture to a cellar, and that relative humidity between 50% and 70% is adequate with 60% being ideal.
Should I choose the air-cooled DP25 Pro or the water-cooled DP25WC?
Wine Guardian states that air-cooled systems use ambient air to remove heat from the condenser while water-cooled systems use liquid drawn from a water source. The air-cooled DP25 Pro suits installations that have a ventilated space to reject condenser heat into; the water-cooled DP25WC suits locations near an abundant water source or where venting that heat is not practical. A qualified contractor should confirm which configuration the site supports.
How much cooling capacity does the Wine Guardian DP25 provide?
The DP25 Pro is rated at 3,760 BTU/h at 80°F condenser inlet air with 57°F and 55% relative humidity return air, on a single 115 V supply. Wine Guardian publishes a second rating basis for ordinary room return air at 80°F and 50% relative humidity, on which the same unit is rated 5,080 BTU/h at 80°F condenser inlet air. Final sizing should be confirmed with Wine Guardian's cooling calculator and a licensed HVAC professional.
Where does the DP25 Pro get installed?
The DP25 Pro is a self-contained ducted unit designed to sit outside the wine cellar, in a utility room, closet or adjacent space, and to connect through insulated ductwork. That keeps the compressor and fans out of the room you occupy and leaves the cellar's interior free for storage.
What warranty covers the Wine Guardian DP25 Pro?
Wine Guardian's standard warranty runs 25 months parts and 13 months labor from the date of invoicing. The optional Platinum warranty runs 25 months parts and labor plus a 36-month parts-only extension on the compressor, evaporator coil and condenser coil. Warranty, returns and service are handled through Wine Guardian as the manufacturer.
Why is the DP25 Pro quoted rather than priced online?
The DP25 Pro is configured per project, and options such as electric heat, remote monitoring and control, duct kits and humidification change the final build. Send the cellar dimensions, the construction and where the condenser can be sited, and an authorized Wine Guardian dealer will confirm the configuration and quote it.
