The Wine Guardian Platinum Warranty covers the compressor, condenser coil and evaporator coil for 61 months from the date of original invoicing, against 25 months under the standard warranty. Those three components are the ones whose failure normally ends the service life of a wine cellar cooling system. Platinum also reimburses labor for a malfunction occurring within 25 months of the original invoice date, where the standard warranty reimburses labor only if the malfunction occurs within the first 13 months. This tier applies to the CS050, D050, DS050, DP50, SP50, D088, DS088, DP88 and SP88.

What the Platinum Warranty adds over the standard warranty

Both warranties run from the date of original invoicing and both limit liability to repair or replacement at Wine Guardian's option. What Platinum changes is how long two of those obligations last.

Stated as a buyer outcome: 25 months of labor reimbursement instead of 13, and 61 months instead of 25 on the compressor, condenser coil and evaporator coil. The 61 month figure is Wine Guardian's own wording in the warranty document; the same coverage is sometimes described as 25 months plus a 36 month extension on those three parts, which is the identical term expressed differently.

Models covered by Platinum 2

Platinum 2 is the coverage tier for the mid-capacity Wine Guardian range. On the 50 class it applies to the D050 ducted system, the DS050 duct split, the DP50 Pro ducted unit and the SP50 Pro ducted split.

On the 88 class it applies to the D088 ducted unit, the DS088 ducted split, the DP88 Pro ducted system and the SP88 Pro ducted split.

The CS050 is in this tier as well, in either the ceiling mount configuration or the wine wall configuration. Buyers still deciding between these capacities can compare the Wine Guardian models side by side before choosing the unit this warranty will be written against. Conditions that decide whether a claim is paid

• Get authorization before spending anything. Do not return parts and do not incur charges you expect to be reimbursed without first obtaining authorization from a Wine Guardian authorized representative. Labor is reimbursed only with that prior authorization.
• Return replaced parts prepaid within 30 days. When replacement parts are supplied under warranty, the defective parts must be returned prepaid within 30 days.
• A defaced serial number voids the warranty in its entirety. That applies to the serial number on the air conditioner and on the compressor, whether it is altered, removed or defaced.
• Coverage runs from the original invoice date, not from the installation or commissioning date. Keep the original invoice with the unit serial number.
• The remedy is repair or replacement, at Wine Guardian's option. Platinum extends the duration of coverage; it does not change what the remedy is.
• Freight. Wine Guardian pays standard ground transportation both ways to and from addresses in the mainland United States, Canada or Mexico.

How long is the compressor covered?

61 months from the date of original invoicing, together with the condenser coil and the evaporator coil. All other goods and parts are covered for 25 months.

Is labor actually paid, or only parts?

Labor is reimbursed when the malfunction occurs within 25 months of the original invoice date, and only with prior authorization from a Wine Guardian authorized representative. Without that authorization, labor charges are not reimbursed. The 61 month term on the compressor, condenser coil and evaporator coil is a parts term.

Does Platinum change what Wine Guardian owes if a part fails?

No. Under both warranties, liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective goods at Wine Guardian's option. Platinum changes the length of the coverage, not the remedy.

Registration, service and claims

Wine Guardian is the manufacturer and the warrantor. Warranty registration, service authorization and claim handling run through Wine Guardian and its authorized representatives. Add this Platinum coverage on the same order as the unit it applies to, and keep the invoice together with the serial number of the installed system, because both the start date and the validity of the warranty depend on them.
